I dunno... that apocalyptic ending of Halloween Kills was really up my alley. I liked that last movie, but I feel like it definitely backpedaled from that second film, and in essence made it completely unnecessary.
Oh yeah, dude! You need only peruse some of the most-liked reviews for both films (but particularly the second) on Letterboxd, and you’ll find a wellspring of favourable reviews waxing lyrical over their merits.

I think when people found out Carpenter wasn’t a fan it just became trendy to trash them.
